Day twenty-one- Milestone!

Today’s weight: 250.0

net change: -17.4

Today marks the day that I hit 250 pounds. I haven’t seen this weight in over 6 years! (Not since I was doing super-strict low carb.) *grover arms*

So, today I tried out those Miracle Noodle things… they’re a non-calorie, non-fat, under a gram of non-soluble fiber per serving. They’re made from something called Glucomannan. The texture is a bit odd, and there’s really no flavor to them. But it really does flesh out a meal. I used 6 oz of “rice” (2 sampler packages) for three of us. I served it with Orange Ginger Chicken (recipe below) and asparagus for dinner tonight!  I am SO FULL right now! And I’m about 50 calories shy of hitting my 500… but I think I’ll just let it lie. I really can’t eat anything else tonight!

I’m really hoping that the Miracle Noodles don’t cause me to stall (or, heaven forbid, gain). I have angel hair & fettuccine styles on the shelf (we bought the “sampler pack”) just waiting for me to do something with. (Can you say Vietnamese Noodle Bowl??)

I guess I’ll see in the morning if it does anything wonky to me…

ETA: Oh my gosh! I totally forgot to tell you guys! I BOUGHT A BIKINI!! Who’d a thunk? I’m planning on using it for my loss photos, and maybe eventually I’ll actually wear it in real public! 😀

Day twenty-one – Making a habit

Today’s weight: 252.4

Today is “habit” day! (‘they’ say it takes 21 days to make a habit…) So, perhaps by the end of this, healthy eating will be my norm! I am starting to miss cheese again, though. (Me and my cheese obsession…) Perhaps this weekend, I’ll try making a chicken dish with some non-fat Greek yogurt. (I have a list of approved foods, and it says that you can occasionally replace a fruit serving with 3/4 cup non-fat yogurt.) That may give me the creamy flavor I crave.

Started out my day with going to my surgeon & getting the staples out of my back. That was nice. It was kind of pinchy/painful, but I’m glad to have them out. Hopefully the suture tape they put on me won’t make me blister & rip my skin off. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t… My incision is draining a bit, so they also put me on 8 days of antibiotics. “Just to be safe.” (No sign of infection, but they figure if something can come out, nasty things can get it.)

Work was crazy-busy… Typical end-of-the-month push by sales. And apparently the hospital was saving up all their discharges over the weekend to surprise us with today.  Kept me hopping, that’s for sure.

I broke down and bought SWTOR… I decided that I really wanted to play with it some more, so obviously had to buy. Comes with a 30 day subscription, so at least I have a month to decide if I want to pay $15 a month to keep playing.  I also bought SIMS Medieval today. Fun!

Well, I’m going to wrap this up & go read on the couch with the pups… they need some couch time. 🙂

Got stuck at work late today, but fortunately I had some melba toast in my drawer.

Day nineteen – a clean stove is a happy stove

Yay! Almost back to where I was when I had to break for my surgery! (Only 0.2 shy, so close…)  I’ll be glad when I see the next new number on the scale. I have to get below 253.4 for that (my lowest weight in over 6 years, which I hit twice in the past two weeks), but I figure it’ll only be a day or two.

My back is kinda pissed off at me right now. Like I said the other day, I think I may have pulled a muscle when trying to manhandle the turkey out of my way on the stove on Thursday. (Yes, I should have called hubby and had him move it… but dammit! I hate feeling so bloody helpless!) Then standing & cooking for many hours, then the shopping yesterday… And then today, I worked on getting my kitchen clean.

It’s been really messy for a long while now (hubby’s idea of ‘clean the kitchen’ and mine have quite some distance between them), and I’m just so tired of looking at it! Plus, with the purchase of the Keurig yesterday, I had to make space for it.  My kitchen is TINY! We call it a 1-butt kitchen (meaning if you get 2 butts in there, no one can move around). My counter space is practically non-existent. And it probably doesn’t help that I have a really bad “small kitchen appliance & gadget” habit. But, that makes for a very crowded 1-butt kitchen. So, anyway, I rearranged some of the stuff on counters. Swapped a shelf to the other side of the kitchen, moved the knife blocks, and moved my Nuwave oven to a different counter. That actually gave me room to set up the Keurig and to be able to have my food scale & a cutting board on the counter. (Instead of on an upside-down cookie sheet on the stove top! Did I mention my kitchen is stupidly little? lol)

So, today I worked on cleaning the kitchen. And I played some of the beta of a new video game – Star Wars : The Old Republic. It’s fun… I’m not sure I’m going to buy it, though… kinda spendy for the game its self, and then there’s a monthly service fee (and I already pay one of those for World of Warcraft).  I don’t know. Hubby & a lot of my WoW friends are going to be playing it… so I’m tempted, just so I can play with them… but I have to think about it more.

Day eighteen – that’s the way, uh huh uh huh

I like it! Yay for downward movement… even with a blip to start out my morning yesterday. Woot! I figure another day or two, and I’ll be back to my lowest & beyond.

Swimsuit shopping was a bust (as I figured it would be… NOVEMBER!), but I did find a couple of cute blouses at Ross, a really adorable black sweater dress (hello, 1983), and nice little black & white dress. Sis didn’t go home empty handed, though… she ‘shopped in my closet’ for a swimsuit. She took home 3 of my old ones to try on. They’re still in good shape, one even still had tags. When I was really active in water aerobics, I stocked up on suits because they stretched out so quickly. Chlorine is NOT nice to fabric.

Hubby & I went grocery shopping this morning. Costco was like a ghost town! Sooo nice!! Got lots of meat, apples, & veggies. The meat should last us a couple of weeks & the produce should last at least 4, possibly until next weekend.
My happy-happy purchase, though, was a Keurig machine! yay!! Costco had a screaming deal on them. At Walmart, they have the 3-size brewer, with 12 K-cups, for $149. Costco, on the other hand, had the 5-size brewer, with 60 K-cups AND the K-me basket (so you can use your own coffee or loose leaf tea), for the same price!  Score!

Of course… between the two shopping trips, my back is screaming… So, I’m going to get off the computer, take a Percocet, & lay on the couch with the dogs for a while before bed. Maybe I’ll watch the new Harry Potter… we picked that up on Blue-Ray the other day… Hmm…

Thoughts…

This isn’t a standard daily update. This is something more…
I have a couple of close friends who are also blogging their journeys, and it made me realize that I don’t share  much outside of ‘this is what I ate, this is how my day went, this is what I weigh’.  Not that this is necessarily bad.  It’s just not really my nature to be really forthcoming with what is usually introspection.  I just read a post by my friend who has recently joined Overeaters Anonymous. His post almost brought me to tears… It was a run-down of some of his earliest memories. Many of which were binge eating/hiding food related. I knew he’d always struggled with is weight (weight is always one of those painfully obvious subjects), but I never knew the REAL struggle he had with food. It got me to thinking… It made me think I should do up a post with more about myself.

Day seventeen – You know what they say about good intentions…

Four pounds… Not unexpected… but still sucky.
Considering I was starting back on my drops & considering EVERYTHING that I ate yesterday, I guess I’m just glad it wasn’t more!

So, my good intentions was to get right back on the VLCD bandwagon today. Yup, that road to hell reared it’s ugly head… in the form of home made fudge. *sigh* And a piece of candy and a mini doughnut…  Yeah. I did actually make the conscious decision to eat those things. It’s not like it was mindless snacking.  Where I ran into trouble today, is that my co-workers who are also doing hCG diets started their second rounds yesterday. Which meant that today was their second gorge day. They knew that I was also starting my drops back up yesterday… And I think they just assumed that I’d be doing two days of gorging as well. But, I didn’t.

Actually, all things considered, I wasn’t TOO horribly bad…  I hit right around 700 calories all-told today. Way, way more fat and carbs than I should have; and I didn’t eat my second serving of veggies or fruit.

Oh well. Live and learn and move on. Tomorrow is a new day, and all that jazz.

Work wasn’t too strenuous today, what with being the day after Thanksgiving… Most doctor’s offices were closed & the hospital wasn’t in any hurry to do any discharges. So, while I was still able to keep my nurses hopping (mostly because one of them went home sick – stupid GERDs), it was well paced and I was able to get all of my paperwork/chart audits done for the day.

I’m tired, though, and rocking a low-grade headache… so I think I may head off to be early. (I’m such a party-animal… 8pm on a Friday night… *grin*)  Especially since I have shopping to do tomorrow. Since hubby & roomie are both doing this diet with me now, we need to stock up on meat & veg & apples. And then break the meat down into single serving sizes & freeze. (So. Much. Easier.)  And, my sis wants me to go swimsuit shopping with her tomorrow afternoon…. (Really? Swimsuit shopping in late November? In North America?  Sounds like I’m in for a wild goose chase…)

So, did anyone partake in Black Friday shopping? Personally, I partook of “Buy Nothing” day… but mostly because I had to work & didn’t see anything online that I ‘had’ to have.

Day … Let’s say sixteen

Yay! Back on my drops!!
Like I said yesterday, I went ahead and had a gorge day today. Oh, boy, did I!

I’m fighting off a food coma, and I have to get to bed anyway – since I have to work tomorrow – so this probably won’t be terribly long… As in, I’m going to just run down everything I ate today & go to bed.

I ate:
Breakfast Rice Pudding, an iced mocha with whipped cream, clam dip & ruffles, a chocolate marshmallow santa, veggies w/ ranch dressing, cranberry cheese log & multigrain crackers, turkey, mashed cauliflower, mashed sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry/huckleberry sauce, sparkling apple cider, a dinner roll, pumpkin cheesecake, jewel salad, whipped cream, mulled hot cider.

Um… yeah, I think that’s it… I didn’t eat a whole lot of any item, though… but I’m too tired right now to break it all down.

Water count was pretty bad, I only got in about 60 oz . I’m going to chug a bottle on my way to bed…

Break: day 12 (back to drops tomorrow!)

Neat! I managed to go two entire week… and end with the exact same weight at my last drop day!

So, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I’m starting back on my drops for another 3 weeks.
I’m going to go ahead and “load” tomorrow… just because I really want to. Even though, I’m not technically supposed to, as I just took a ‘break’ rather than the full 6 week reset. But, I’m going to anyway. 😀

Not that I ate great today… but it was a stressful day, and it was just a day where I really didn’t give a shit. Of course, I’m already paying for the carb overload (I ate Mexican food, chips & salsa). My head has been hurting for several hours & I feel a bit bloated. *sigh* I’ll just chug an extra bottle of water & hope for the best, though. Even though I fully expect I’ll be up in water weight tomorrow.

I’ve made a pumpkin cheesecake for tomorrow. (From scratch, yummy!!) And I have Jello in the fridge, waiting to be made into jewel salad (yummy, whipped creamy goodness). Hubby also popped the turkey into the brine mix this afternoon, so the gobble-gobble will be ready to rock the deep-fryer tomorrow. In the morning, I’ll be making my mashed cauliflower bake (recipe below – it’s low-carb!) and mashed sweet potatoes with butter & cinnamon (can’t stand candied yams *ack*gack*). My best-friend, S, made pumpkin pies & cranberry loaf bread. She’s also making other side dishes & her hubby is making his A.Maz.Ing Clam Dip. SOOO GOOD!

So… see why I’m gorging tomorrow? LOL!!

Oh! And tomorrow, when I go back on the drops… I’m taking S, hubby, & the roomie with me! *bwahahahaha* I’m so excited to have more people on the journey with me! And, it makes me happy that they’re all committing to making a healthier start for themselves as well (even if there was a bit of arm-twisting with the roomie).

Okay, the cheesecake is out of the oven… I’m going to wrap this up & go to bed.

Snack was an apple & coffee/unsweetened almond milk.
Lunch was bad: tortilla chips & pico de gallo & a couple bites of a chicken chimichanga.
Dinner was a Popeye’s chicken leg & part of a thigh & a biscuit.
Then, I ate a dark chocolate covered marshmallow santa… (told you I was bad today)

Break: day 11

Nice! I dropped 1.2 pounds from yesterday.

Today was my first day back at work since my surgery… LONNNGGGG DAAYYYYY!
My back is pretty swollen & I’m cranky. But, I survived.
One of the joys of working in the medical industry is that EVERYONE wanted to see the incision! LOL  Bunch of silly nurses… A couple of them offered to gauze me up, if I wanted it covered to keep my pants from rubbing it. 😀

I’m going to keep this short today, just because I’m exhausted from work… and I still need to go change the sheets on my bed before I can crawl into it. *sigh*

Drops to start back up in 2 days! Yay!

My day~
Breakfast was 1/4 of my left over chili cheese omelette & 1/2 cup cottage cheese.
Snack was the last 1/4 of my omelette &  coffee/unsweetened almond milk.
Lunch was half of an enormous Cobb salad (yummy!!)
Snack was an Atkins Caramel Nut Chew bar.
Dinner was 5 oz tri tip & broccoli/carrots with butter & garlic.
I’m low on calories and fat again today (1332), but I’m going to just let it lie as is and see what the scale says tomorrow.
