Whole30 – catching up, days 11 to 19

going to bed!Yup. I’m probably the worst blogger ever.  I always have good intentions… and then *poof*.

Ah well. That’s how I am, I guess.

The last week has been… good, I guess. The weather changing to fall always makes me need to sleep more, so I’ve often been eating dinner, playing a couple rounds of Candy Crush, and then wandering off to bed to read for about 15 minutes before falling asleep.  I have a ton of energy during the day and I’ve been waking up just a little bit before my alarm each morning, so I know that this Whole30 has been a great thing.

Last weekend we did a giant round of PROCESS ALL THE PLUMS. Our tree decided it was going to be ripe all at once and threw about 70 lbs of plums at us in 3 days.  So, I spent all day Saturday and Sunday canning and dehydrating.  We found some pectin that we don’t have to use sugar with, so I made a ton of jams that we’ll be able to eat ourselves. (I don’t eat a lot of jam, since I gave up bread…) It tastes good with almond butter AND it worked really well spread on a pork roast!  I also canned a big batch of spicy plum BBQ sauce. Which I can’t eat any of until after my Whole30 is over… since I used coconut sugar in the recipe.  I made a few jars of jam sweetened with Stevia, to share with my diabetic neighbor (he suggested Splenda… not gonna happen). And a bunch of jars with regular sugar (but a low amount) to give away as gifts to coworkers & such.  I managed to put up 36 pints of stuff, 6 trays of fruit leather, & about a pound of dried “plum chips”.  Pretty productive, actually. I still have about 2 gallons of plum slurry that I need to finish doing things with, though… Any suggestions?

Whole30 – day 5

Holy cow, yesterday was brutal! Day 5 was apparently “Attack of the Sleepies”…
I was so tired last night that I’d decided to run to the grocery store and buy steaks to grill up rather than wait the 2+ hours that it would take for the roast to cook! I ended up going to bed super early (around 7:30, actually) and slept until almost 8 this morning. With a brief “up to let the dogs out to potty” around 11.  This morning, I woke up SORE, scratchy throat, and headachey. Like, my bones hurt sore.  I’m feeling a bit better after breakfast & coffee, but my joints are still feeling stiff & sore. I’m hoping it just the detoxing & not that I’m actually getting sick.

Hubby & I are supposed to go do the Edible Pedal tomorrow… I hope I’m feeling up to it!  We’re signed up to do the 50 miler, but I guess if worse comes to worse, we my just do the 10 miler & not stress it. We’ll go to the post-ride BBQ and enjoy some of the wonderful grilled meat & veggies. The last two years there were plenty of “Paleo” type foods, so I’m fairly certain we’ll find things we can eat that are Whole30.  (Don’t want to bomb on day 7!)

Breakfast – Poached eggs, sauteed kale. Black coffee.
Lunch – Mushroom chili.
Snack – Apple and almond butter.
Dinner –  Flat iron steak and roasted sweet potato with clarified butter.

Whole30 – day 4

So, I seem to be not managing to post before bed… Ah, well. It’s probably better that I’m not on the computer right before bed anyway, right?

I woke up this morning (day 5) still tired. Meh. Guess I might be skipping the “kill all the things” stage and going straight into “need a nap”?  Ah well. I’ll just keep plugging along, and hopefully go to bed early. (What a wild Friday night for me!)

Breakfast – Poached eggs, beets, warm strawberries with coconut cream and hemp hearts. Black coffee.
Snack – Apple and almond butter.
Lunch – Chicken bone broth with veggies and diced chicken heart.
Dinner – Mushroom Chili and a peach,
Dessert – fresh plums from my tree.

I’m baaaa-aaack!

It was a very nice trip to Seattle. The Mother-in-Law was TOTALLY surprised! Woot!

I ate things I shouldn’t have (an entire weekend of Mexican food…) but, I only managed to gain a bit. Double-woot!

I’m going to leave this short, I’ve got other stuff I need to get done before I go to bed… but I’ll try to do a longer post tomorrow.

Breakfast was lamb, string cheese, eggs, and coffee/cream.
Snack was macadamia nuts & Just The Cheese.
Lunch was buffalo wings & celery/carrots.
Dinner was a big steak & avocado.

The weather is making me sleepy today… It’s been kind of windy & overcast all day.
I think I’m going to keep this really short tonight, do my hooping, & then go to bed early.

Oh, but yay for no gain this morning!

Snack was Fage & blueberries.
Lunch was a crab/shrimp pan roast.
Dinner was Ono grilled with pesto & broccoli (with a dab of ranch dressing).

Oof. I forgot how full you feel after eating all 500 calories on VLCD! I feel almost as full right now as I did on Saturday. LOL

So, a 3.8 loading gain. Not too horrid, I suppose. It’s bigger than my last load gain (3.0), but it could have been SO much more. 🙂

Work is kicking my butt (as usual) and I’ve had a really long exhausting day. So, (broken record time) I’m going to keep this really short today & go to bed early.

Breakfast was iced coffee.
Snack was an apple.
Lunch was chicken & broccoli.
Dinner was London Broil & asparagus.

Loading Day 1: 215.6

Loading days are exhausting… and I’m so full, I’m uncomfortable.

I’m not going to list out everything I ate… so let’s just say & had a lot of fatty food today, k? Plus, I got to eat some Easter candy (Yay for Cadbury Creme Eggs!). I think I’m ending the day at right around 2800 calories. So. Yeah.

I had to actually work to get all my water in today. But, I managed 100 oz.

I’m tired & still full & going to bed.

R2P3D22 – You could have a steam train, If you’d just lay down your tracks…

Tonight was my first injection for cycling into R3! Woo hoo! The next two days will be loading up. Hopefully I don’t gain too much on my loading days this round. I gained 1.4 on my first round (I don’t think I loaded very well) and 3.0 on my second round.

So, our friends who were going to come this weekend for a visit aren’t going to be able to make it. *pout* But, their reason is unavoidable and understandable. I’m still sad we won’t get to see them… The good thing is that Bestie & I are headed their direction in a couple of weeks for the San Jose Fantasy Faire, and we’ll see if they can come to the little after-show get together we’re plotting. And, we’ve already ‘rescheduled’ their visit for the weekend before the 4th of July. Yay!

Well, I don’t know what we’re going to do with ourselves all weekend, since we won’t have company… I should probably make some more glass mushrooms, though.  Oh! Bestie! Can you bring over a fairy house or two for me to photograph the “fairy house yard mushrooms” with? And that way I can approximate the “hanging lantern” sizes as well… 🙂

Okay, I’m pretty worn down from the week… so I’m going to keep this short & toddle off to bed early (yup, such a wild & crazy Friday-party-animal I am).

Breakfast was Rib Eye steak, broccoli, eggs, & coffee/cream.
Lunch was beef brisket & a mini lemon ricotta bundt cake.
Snack was a Russell Stover net-carb pecan delight & a few pistacios.
Dinner was beef brisket & asparagus with butter.

R2P3D14 – It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight…

I’m really hoping that I don’t have yet another correction day ahead of me tomorrow… *sigh* I did NOT have this much trouble last round. But, then, I also didn’t have a big bread cheat on P3D2 last round, nor did I have 4 days of gastronomic travels. So, I guess we’ll see.

I had a horribly long day at work… My eyes are burning from all of the paper dust I’ve delved through today. Meh. Doesn’t help that I’ve not been sleeping well – so I’m run down & cranky. I just want to pitch things at people’s heads. 😦 I think I’ll take some benadryl for my puffy eyes and go to bed early tonight.

I’m not nearly as sore today as I was afraid of being! Yay!  I’m doing some upper body work with my kettlebell tonight & then I’ll run again tomorrow.

Breakfast was Fage with English Toffee Stevia and a handful of frozen berries & coffee/cream.
Snack was hot & spicy microwave pork rinds and some cream cheese.
Lunch was corned beef & cabbage.
Dinner was turkey/mushroom chili with a dolop of Fage & a small sprinkle of cheddar cheese.

Sooo…. I had a stupendous time on my trip! And, yeah… 3 1/2 pounds later… LOL

I’m exhausted, though, because of some weather-related travel foo – so I’m going to just keep it super short tonight.
I’ll do a big update tomorrow, I promise!!

Needless to say, today was a “correction” day. I decided I’d just do the original Steak Day from Pounds & Inches. So, I had coffee & water for breakfast and lunch, and then had 22 oz of broiled Chuck Eye (yummy!!) and an apple for dinner.
