R3P2D8 – Slow-motion weekdays stare me down…

Well, yesterday’s small loss was probably just a ‘slow day’. Today’s loss was just fine. Guess we’ll see what tomorrow brings!

So, the wonderful MizzM has begun her hCG journey! I’m very excited for her! She did her first injection yesterday & began loading. (Ahhh… loading…) I can’t wait to see how she does!

I have a feeling this is going to be a week of short posts… I have a ton of stuff to get done (if it weren’t for the last minute, nothing would ever get done around here) before Bestie, her hubby, & I head off to the San Jose Fantasy Faire on Friday.  I want to knock out some more mushrooms, I need to find the blouses for my costumes, I need to pack my clothes, and prep my food & injections for the days I’ll be gone… Oy! I need to find my little red cooler, so I have a place to keep my food & injections as well…
I’ll post photos of our booth & us in our costumes when we get back. (Probably Monday – as I have a feeling we won’t be home until pretty late on Sunday night.)

I had thought of something I wanted to talk about… and by the time I finished that last part of the above paragraph, it was gone.  I hate hate hate Fibro Fog! I’m fairly certain that’s what the problem is lately… I’ve been a bit depressed & foggy & exhausted.  I don’t think it’s the hCG, as I was feeling like this while I was still in P3…  Meh.

Breakfast was coffee/milk & a cocoa crack.
Snack was 1/2 an apple.
Lunch was beef, radishes, & garlic melba.
Dinner was cubed chicken breast baked in a mix of ‘green sauce’ and a tablespoon of Fage & asparagus. (recipe for green sauce below)
Dessert was more cocoa crack.

Water count: 90 oz

R3P2D2 – I hear the ticking of the clock, I’m lying here, the room’s pitch dark…

Yay! I truly do love the first few days of VLC. The numbers drop so fast. 🙂 Of course… it is the load weight for a few days. So, I won’t get too excited until I’m below that ‘stuck place’ of 215.

Sorry I don’t have a whole lot to talk about lately… I’m apparently going through one of my ‘meh’ phases. I just don’t feel up to doing anything once I’m home from work. I’ve been struggling to just post what I have been. I know that posting is good for me – keeps me honest about my food intake & forces me to actually do something other than stare at my computer screen or a book or into space after I make dinner.

Bleh. Sorry about being a debbie downer…

So, this round, I’m testing out having a tablespoon of unsweetened almond milk in my morning coffee. It just gives a little bit of flavor to my coffee, with pretty much no carbs.  I know we’re allowed to have a tablespoon of milk – but, no one in my house drinks milk, so it would probably go bad faster than I could use it. The almond milk lasts a bit longer, soo… fingers crossed.

Breakfast was coffee.
Lunch was flank steak & steamed broccoli slaw.
Dinner was cajun shrimp & shredded cabbage.
Dessert was strawberries & melba toast.

Water count: 96 oz

R1P3D8 – Jingle bells, batman smells…

I wonder if I’m having a Fibro flare… I’m just still exhausted! And my brain hasn’t been functioning… and I hurt. Yup. Probably a flare. Joy.

We had to do some last-minute shopping today. Picked up some Visa Gift cards for the neices & nephew, and some jigsaw puzzles as the little gifty to wrap the cards with. Got a double-deck of Star Wars playing cards for my brother, along with a Yoda & Clone Warrior marshmallow pops. He’s 10 years older than me… LOL Got ‘spa’ sets for my step-mom, sister, & bro’s wife. And I got some fun “Ice Speed Chess” forms for my dad.

The “exciting” part of my day was realizing, as we were getting ready to head out to the movies, that my wallet was missing! We tore apart the car, my purse, turned out all pockets… *gnashing of teeth*  I tried calling the last store I went to… but the phones were so busy that I couldn’t get to a person in customer service. So, Hubby & I loaded back into the car and drove back to the store, just praying that I had left it at the checkout counter and not dropped it in the parking lot or something.
Prayers do get answered sometimes… The young fella who was our cashier was still on the same lane – and he remembered us, and yes – I had left my wallet sitting on the stand and he’d given it to a manager. YAY! I found a manager and they unlocked the money drawer & there it was! *sigh of incredible relief*

So, Hubby & I did make it to the movie… Albeit two and a half hours later… Saw the new Sherlock Holmes. It was a lot of fun!

We tried to go out to dinner – but after sitting at the table for fifteen minutes with no server, we got up and left. I did a parting shot at the manager (who had walked past our table twice without acknowledgement), who happened to be standing next to the hostess stand, that we were leaving without ordering because we were tired of being ignored at the table. And, when we got home, I sent an email off to the company. I am actually shocked and disappointed in what happened. I’ve NEVER had bad service there before. Slow sometimes… but never bad like this. I mean, it’s WAY more likely that the owner (like the guy who’s name is in lights on the side of the giant casino) stops by your table to chat & see how it’s going!  *sigh*  So, instead of getting yummy pan roasts, we came home and ate corned beef & cabbage. Which was still yummy… but not a pan roast.

I also made Low-Carb Key Lime Yogurt Pies (recipe below) to take to Christmas dinner with the family tomorrow. I had some left-over ground almonds, so I made some almond cocoa crack too.

Breakfast was 2 poached eggs, 2 oz beef, 2 turkey sausage links, & coffee/cream. Lunch was 3.5 oz pulled pork, green onion, & red bell peppers. Snack was beef jerky. Dinner was corned beef & cabbage. “Dessert” was licking the spoons while I was making the lime yogurt pie…

Day twenty-four- feeling meh today…

Meh. Very low-spoon-day…
Went grocery shopping & pet food store. Came home & split meat out into single serving sizes for the freezer. Went for a short (0.7mi) walk with the dogs – in the frigid wind. Made lunch, made dinner. Not quite 8pm & I’m bushed! I didn’t get half the stuff done that I wanted to. Wanted to get Christmas lights up on the garage, wanted to finish cleaning the kitchen, wanted to vacuum… not happening. Maybe tomorrow.

I made up a Crawfish Mushroom Creole (recipe below) for dinner. It was pretty tasty. It would totally be better with butter in it. At least according to Hubby & Roomie. LOL

Oh! Did I mention yesterday that I won a contest in one of my SparkPeople groups? I won a copy of Dance Central 2 for my Kinect! I’m looking forward to getting it… I’m hoping that I can do some of the dances without irritating my back too much, so I can get in some exercise besides walking.

Okay. Short & sweet tonight. I’m going to go take a pain pill & take the puppies to bed.

Day twenty-three – Coffeecoffeecoffeecoffee

Water intake was better today… But my coffee intake was WAY up as well… but three o’clock this afternoon, I was *buzzin*! coffeecoffeecoffeecoffeecoffee

I’m very tired this evening… it’s been a super long day. And probably drinking that much coffee didn’t really help.

You know, I just got to thinking that you’re probably wondering why I’m often so tired at the end of each day. I know I mention it pretty regularly.  It’s not because of the diet. Actually, I think that the diet has given me more energy than I ever have in the past.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet here that I have Fibromyalgia. This is a disease that wrecks havoc with your immune system, energy levels, & pain control. I was diagnosed 6 years ago. I have up days and down days. Up weeks and down weeks.  Often, when I’m exhausted by the end of the day, it’s because I’m in a down zone.

If you’re not familiar with ‘invisible’ disabilities, you should definitely read The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino. Even though her theory is based specifically on Lupus, Fibro can run very similar.  Her article does an incredible job with explaining the choices we have to make to function. So, you’ll understand why I’m often so tired at the end of a day.  I’m fortunate in that I’ve been able to control most of my symptoms without having to resort to heavy medications.  Avoiding wheat & high fructose corn syrup help a lot. (It’s amazing how inflammatory those are to one’s system!)

I’m lucky that I usually have an almost ‘normal’ amount of spoons compared to perfectly healthy people. But, some days I’m just spoon-shy. And, really, dealing with the daily pain levels of Fibro is exhausting all in it’s self! (I’d say the only time I’ve been below a 5 on a 1-10 scale was when I was heavily medicated.) Usually I just push through it. But that pushing does catch up to me every so often.

Wow. I do get my teeth in a subject and go on, don’t I? LOL

Okay, I’m going to go eat my apple & then toddle off to bed. Maybe I’ll even fall asleep before midnight. That would be exciting. 🙂

Lunch was 100g chicken breast & 125g tomatoes (Soup! Love my immersion blender!)
Dinner was 100g tilapia ,130g yellow squash, & garlic melba

Water count: 88 oz (+16 oz hot tea + waaaay too much coffee)
