Whole30 – days 6 & 7

Look VERY close... you can see bicyclists!

Look VERY close… you can see bicyclists!

Whoops! Didn’t post at all yesterday! Well, I hope you’ll forgive me, since I was just WIPED OUT from riding the Edible Pedal 50! Four and a half hours of bicycling – 54 miles with 3,000 feet of climb. Yeah, whew.  Here’s a picture at about the ‘halfway’ point for one of the canyons we climbed. This was the brutal one. It’s the longest (not the steepest). ->>
There ended up not being anything we could eat at the event (well, anything that we were willing to wait in line for, anyway). Most of the stuff was marinaded, etc. The servers couldn’t tell me what was in it, so we skipped it in favor of keeping our Whole30 clean (and not having to start over!). We chose to come home and just eat the roast I had put in the crock pot that morning. 🙂

Day 6 (Saturday)
Breakfast – Breakfast Patties and coffee whipped with coconut oil & egg.
Snack – plums, raspberries, coconut cream. (Note to self, don’t eat raspberries before a bike ride… ACID!)
Dinner – Green curry pork & veggies

Yeah, I missed lunch… But, breakfast was late & we ate dinner early, so it sort of all worked out.

Day 7 (Sunday)
Breakfast – Eggy coffee & a Breakfast Patty. (pre-ride)
Snack – Banana & half an apple, raw cashews, goji berries. (on ride)
Lunch – Hard boiled egg, coconut water. (on ride)
Dinner – Pot roast with cauliflower and carrots.

Then, bed early.

This morning… I’m doing okay, but my butt is sore and my muscles are a little achy. 😀

R4P3D14 – Got a lot of catching up to do…

Coconut prawns, bacon wrapped scallops, butter cooked clams, and crab stuffed mushrooms... and a nice Riesling.

Let’s see… I haven’t posted since Wednesday… so…

Thursday night hubby took me out to a nice steakhouse dinner. We had wine & appetizers (bad girl). But, oh so yummy! We did send the bread away – but I ate the stuffed mushroom and the coconut prawn.  Of course, by the time my blackened prime rib (with whiskey butter!) & green beans arrived, I was so full I could barely eat a quarter of it! 🙂

Then, I had Friday off, to kick off my girlz weekend – and I had a GREAT time!!

Awesome Charcuterie Plate!

Awesome Charcuterie Plate!

Bestie & I ate lunch on Friday at our friend’s restaurant, The Compass Star – YUMMO!! She is an incredible chef. I’m so proud of her for following her dream and making it a reality. She works her tukkus off, and she’s loving it!  No clue what each of the cured meats were on the charcuterie plate – but they were delicious!  Of course, I forgot to take pictures of the pulled pork slider or the rosemary chicken panini… but trust me, they were drool worthy. If you’re ever in Martinez, CA – or even anywhere NEAR there – you need to eat at The Compass Star.

And, after eating WAAAAYYYY too much incredible food (yes, I ate the bread – don’t judge, she made it with a local brewery’s spent beer stuff!) Bestie & I wandered up and down Main Street, popping into all of the antique stores. I managed to score two hat boxes, a nice wig box, and a pretty glass pearled purse.  Not too shabby.

Then, off to Salinas! Got to our friends’ house & they made us dinner and we played some Cards Against Humanity (crazy-rude-fun-nutty game, that!) until we were all too tired to keep going.

Saturday, we all got up and had some errands to run. Most of us went to Acme Coffee Roasters (yum, Breve Latte!) and Corrolitos Market (SAUSAGE!!). But, Sparky got to take a couple of the pets to a vet appointment.  After that, met back up & drove down the coast to Pfeiffer Beach – which is a bit south of Big Sur. Such a pretty beach!! Well worth the drive. The turn off is a little hard to spot, and you have to go 2 miles down a very tiny road, but once you get there! Beautimous!!  We spent a couple hours wandering around the beach – in the very cold wind. But, it was very enjoyable none the less.

After we got back to Salinas, we all went over to our other friends’ house to meet up with several more friends that we don’t get to see very often. We BBQ’d the sausages we picked up at Corrilitos & had several yummy vegetable side dishes. And, played Cards Against Humanity for a couple hours. 🙂

Sunday was mostly spent driving home – but Bestie & I stopped at IKEA for me to buy a new set of dishes. I also came out with lots of other stuff, as usual… but I didn’t go too overboard. Hey – I managed to not come home with furniture! LOL

Today was back to the grind at work. Whee.

I’m contemplating going full-on Primal once I’m out of P3.  I do a lot of it anyway, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to transition. I don’t want to do full Paleo, since I don’t want to give up all my dairy. I can live without the grains – but I have to have my cheeses!  I’m still reading Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint, so we’ll see if I’m willing to go all the way with it once I’m finished. I’m also starting to listen to some podcasts about paleo stuff.

I’m going to not post my daily foods on here anymore – if you really want to see what I’m eating day-to-day, I’m logging over on SparkPeople (snapshotstacy).  I’ll still post recipes and such, though, when I’ve got them.  I’m transitioning into maintenance and I figure that double-logging my food is a bit silly.

Today: 178.0 / LIW: 177 / Net: +1.0

Today was a crazy day at work… Was dealing with some accounts payable stuff and ended up working right through lunch. Fortunately, I had some pork rinds in my drawer, so I was able to munch something down – and the boss lady let me leave an hour early.

Leaving an hour early meant I was able to go for a run!! Yay!!! I made pretty good time, too. I did 2.6 miles in 34 minutes. That makes a bit over a 13 minute mile. Booyah! 5 minute warm up, then 8 rounds of run 2 min/walk 1 min, then a 5 min cool down.

So… who would have thought that it would be such a time suck finding a decent cricket ball?? I ended up ordering one off of – hopefully it arrives in time! I need it for my Fifth Doctor costume. 😀  I need to get to the fabric store some time in the next few days & find the stripey fabric for my skirt as well. Gotta get crackin’!  (Also need to drag hubby to Kohl’s to get a vest, white shirt, & tie to go with his suit for his Master outfit!)

Breakfast was pork rind fried chicken & mashed cauliflower, also coffee/cream.
Lunch and snack was hot & spicy pork rinds.
Dinner was tilapia and a salad made of tomatoes, sweet peppers, and avocado – with a bit of fontinella cheese.

Master & Doctor Toys!

Master & Doctor Toys!

Today: 178.4 / LIW: 177 / Net: +1.4

Today was a brutal, nasty, queasy headache/migraine day. It finally toned its self down around 4ish… Which was a good thing, since it let me actually do some exercise this evening. I did the Ramp it Up video from my Slim in 6 videos. There was some burn – but it was WAAYYY easier than it used to be. LOL!

Oooh! Hubby & I figured out what we’re going to do for the party!! We’re gonna go as the 5th Doctor (me) and the Master (him)! *giddy* I’m gonna cross-play the Doctor, though. Can’t you just picture those stripey pants as a cute flirty skirt?? *double giddy*  The hardest part is going to be figuring out that dang sonic screwdriver…

Oh! And I get to wear a celery stalk on my lapel!! How cool is that?? LOL

Well, I’m pretty wiped out – so I’m going to wrap this up and toddle off to bed.

Oh, and YAY, WHO!!

Breakfast was NY Strip steak, mushrooms, and peppers, also coffee/cream.
Lunch was a crab/shrimp pan roast.
Snack was some beef bites.
Dinner was a pancake (Happy Pancake Day!) made from egg, cream cheese, & protein powder.

Some winter leaves…
(taken Feburary 2013)

Yay, only a very tiny headache this morning. That’s good – meant I didn’t have to deal with extra pain today. 🙂

We had a great hike today. Went a bit over 3 miles. We kinda walked through a bit of everything… mud, snow, hard pack dirt, sand… LOL It was an adventure! We decided we’re going to do that hike again in the late spring – there should be some amazing blooming stuff.

Well, another weekend down. And I seriously can’t wait until next weekend, though. Beach time, baby!! And time with awesome friends. Woot! I just have to get through the next few days. Taking Friday off, so Bestie and I can swing by our friend’s restaurant. More woot!

Breakfast was a turkey & jalapeno omelette, also coffee/cream.
Lunch was mini pizza with psyllium husk bread crust
Dinner was pork rind fried chicken and whipped cauliflower.
Dessert was a bit of cocoa crack.

R4P2D13 – Rock a bye baby…

  • Today’s weight: 178.0
    today’s change:  -0.6
    net change: -13.0

This is going to be a short one… It’s kind of late for me, and I’m sleepy!

Hubby & I went for our first outdoor run of the year. It was fan-fuckin-tastic!!  Only about 45 degrees, and foggy, but WONDERFUL! We did 2.25 miles in 32 minutes. Yeah, baby! I don’t love the treadmill – I MUCH prefer to run outdoors.

This afternoon, I went over to Bestie’s to get started on our next ‘project’… And, project it turned out to be! Yikes. We’re making hat boxes (aka band boxes) and it is turning out to be much more complicated than we expected. Oh well. We’re getting it figured out – it’s just taking longer that we thought it would.  PLUS, apparently wall paper in stores is a thing of the past… I went to 6 different stores, and the closest thing was Walmart having self-adhesive “borders”. *sigh*  Guess I’ll just have to order online for what I want to cover my hat box with.

Breakfast was coffee & egg whites.
Snack was Fage 0% with cocoa powder & Truvia.
Lunch was chicken and spinach.
Dinner was a lean turkey patty and baked apple slices.

Water count: 100 oz

R4P2D11 – The still cold smell of morning…

Today’s weight: 178.8
today’s change: -1.0
net change: -12.2

Okay. To start… I just have to say: SmoothMove Tea ain’t so gentle! My tummy was gurgling all night & this morning I was having cramping before anything was ‘moved’. Yikes. It did work, however. LOL!

Now, for something a bit more serious. Remember that everything in this world is transitory. One day you can be plugging along in your own little world, and the next something horrible could happen. Please, tell those you love that you love them – all the time. Don’t wait for birthdays or holidays or the right moment. Cherish the ups and downs.   I found out this morning that a friend from years back and her little daughter had been missing since Monday. This afternoon, her son announced on her facebook that they had been found – but not the way anyone would have hoped.  Apparently, the Sheriff’s office found them under the ice in a pond on their property. At this point, no one knows how it happened. The good thing is that there’s no foul play indicated. The bad thing is that two wonderful bright flames have been snuffed out WAY too young. Rest in peace, ladies.

As much as I seriously didn’t want to work out when I got home from work… I sucked it up and did 2 miles on the treadmill. I’m glad I did – but now I’m TIRED!

I’m wondering if I was as ready to do this round as I thought I was.  I’m not ready to throw in the towel – but my mind doesn’t seem to be in the game. I’ve got 2 more weeks of VLCD. Hope I can hold out!

R4P2D9 – ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang…

Today’s weight: 180.4
today’s change: -1.2
net change: -10.6

Well. Today was a bit of a rogue day all around. LOL!
Started off with deciding that I didn’t want just plain egg whites this morning. So, I mixed in a couple teaspoons of psyllium husk powder and some stevia – and made a pancake thing. It stuck to the pan really bad, and was a little rubbery… but it tasted good. 🙂  I can totally see eating something along these lines in P3 with BUTTER! Nom nom nom.

Lunch was a bit rogue, too, as I really didn’t want any of the meats I had thawed… so I swung by the grocery on my way back to work and picked up a container of fat free cottage cheese.  Mixed in a tablespoon or so of fresh sugar-free salsa, and ate it with celery sticks.

I’m SOOOO ready for the weather to change and the sun to start setting later! I really don’t love exercising on a treadmill… I much prefer to do my running outside (and I think I run way faster outside as well).  But, it’s still pretty much dark when I get home from work – and it’s still only running around 35 degrees (F) in the evening. *brrrrr*  Well, it’ll change pretty soon, I’m sure. Then I’ll be complaining about the heat! LOL
In the meantime, I bought that treadmill – I’d better use it. 😉 That being said, I jumped back into my C25K training today. I started at Week4/Day1 Which is 5w/3r/1.5w/5r/2.5w/3r/1.5w/5r/5w – and I went 2.25 mi in that 32 minutes. That’s right around a 15 minute mile. Definitely been faster (usually run around a 14), but I’ve not done much since before we went on vacation in November.  I’ll get faster as I train more this year, though. The Wine&DineHalf requires a pace of 16min/mile, so I’m going to try training at 14 – and adding distance.

Can you see the star of the picture?

I updated my Progress Pictures today! Yay!

This year, my fitness goals are working on my abs & arms.  Our annual lobby bar take-over theme will be “Bollywood” next January, so I’m thinking that those two areas are going to be QUITE on display. That gives me a year to get’er’done. 🙂

I busted out the WiiFit Plus this evening. You know, I always forget what a +jerk+ it is! LOL It always makes the horrid “oof” sound when I step on the balance board… or gets pissy that I ‘missed my goal’ (when I’m actually 25 lbs UNDER it’s last goal). *sigh*  Oh well. I’m =this= close to being a normal BMI, so that’s nice.  I did 40 minutes of exercises: a run, step aerobics, hula hoop, and some strength stuff.

Breakfast was coffee & egg whites.
Snack was baked apple slices.
Lunch was beef & whipped cauliflower (recipe below!).
Dinner was chicken and shredded cabbage – a la sushi (meaning I cooked it with Braggs, fresh ginger, & wasabi!).

R4P2D5 – Jack Frost nipping at your nose…

  • Today’s weight: 185.2
    today’s change:  -0.6
    net change: -5.8

pogonipSee? I knew I’d slow down! 0.6 is a much more “normal” number. And, while it’s thrilling to see such big numbers from the past couple of days – I also don’t want to stall.

It’s been coooold the past few days, so cold that we’ve been getting pogonip! It’s really pretty – but, brrrr. Pogonip is a Shoshone word – it’s basically frozen fog.

I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes today, so I upped my protein a bit.

Breakfast was coffee & egg whites.
Snack was a handful of blueberries and sea salt melba snacks.
Lunch was ground turkey (99%) and broccoli slaw.
Dinner was tilapia and asparagus.
Dessert was blended frozen strawberries with some cocoa powder thrown in.
