Whole30 – day 4

whole30 timeline-header

So, I seem to be not managing to post before bed… Ah, well. It’s probably better that I’m not on the computer right before bed anyway, right?

I woke up this morning (day 5) still tired. Meh. Guess I might be skipping the “kill all the things” stage and going straight into “need a nap”?  Ah well. I’ll just keep plugging along, and hopefully go to bed early. (What a wild Friday night for me!)

Breakfast – Poached eggs, beets, warm strawberries with coconut cream and hemp hearts. Black coffee.
Snack – Apple and almond butter.
Lunch – Chicken bone broth with veggies and diced chicken heart.
Dinner – Mushroom Chili and a peach,
Dessert – fresh plums from my tree.

Whole30 – day 3

So, yesterday was day three. I’m plugging along, but it seems like forever already. LOL!

I’ve been having sinus headaches for a couple of days now, but I don’t know if it’s allergies or if it’s ‘detoxing’… I also woke up this morning not feeling – right. Just sort of achey & worn.  I hope it’s just that day 4 slump and not that I’m actually getting sick.  I have the Edible Pedal on Sunday – a 50 mile bike ride with a few respectable climbs. Need to be feeling good for that!

Those ain't no olive slices...

Those ain’t no olive slices…

Okay, day 3 food:

Breakfast – Chicken hearts (yes, hearts!) fried in ghee with kale/broccoli salad stuff and poached eggs. Black coffee.
Snack – apple and almond butter
Lunch – Chicken and zucchini cooked in coconut oil.
Dinner –  Ribeye steak and Brussels sprouts with ghee.
Dessert – Raspberries and coconut cream.

Whole30 – day 2

Whoops! I didn’t post last night… Well, not really whoops, I guess, since I made the choice to go to bed instead.

I got a call yesterday morning from my favorite radio station with the news that I’d won 4 free tickets to go see Adam Ant last night. So, I rang up my Bestie & her mister and invited them to go along with Hubby & I. There was some truck drama, so I rescued them from the Uni parking lot and we went to the concert.  I hope it’s not that I’m getting old… but WOW the sound was too loud. It literally made my chest hurt when the bass drums kicked! We ended up leaving the concert early – even with as much as I enjoy live music, I just couldn’t handle it anymore! *sigh*

Chicken and sauteed fruit

So, anyway, here’s yesterday’s fudz!

<< Breakfast – Cinnamon chicken and strawberries/green banana fried in ghee with coconut cream/almonds. (whoops, no veg!)
Lunch – Avocado, peach, snap peas, and pistachios.
Dinner – Two ground buffalo patties with mustard and spinach.

Whole30 – day 1

So – day one is under my belt. Not too bad, really. I eat pretty clean most of the time anyway, so it’s not a huge change for me. The horribly hard part is going to be the no-eating-out for a month and not having dairy or wine. 🙂

Weighed in this morning at 186.6

I’m hoping that I’ll drop at least the 10 lb gain that I’ve put on in the last few months… more would be even better, but not a big deal.I also took pre-30 photos & I’ll most likely post them up with my afters at the end of this process. (I’m obviously not adverse to putting myself on the internet scantily clad. LOL)green curry chicken

Breakfast – 3 poached eggs, mushrooms & basil cooked in ghee, a handful of little tomatoes, black iced coffee.
Lunch – 2 turkey burger patties (Kirkland) with mustard, slices of 4 baby cucumbers in vinegar & avocado oil, an apple with almond butter.
Dinner – green curry chicken with broccoli/zucchini/cauliflower/sweet peppers.
Dessert –  handful of raspberries with some coconut cream.

I have a goal to eat vegetables with every meal. I’ve been slacking in that department the past few months…

I’m going to go away from the computer now & read for a little bit before sleepy time.

Tomorrow is a new day…

So – long (really, really long) time no update…

Over the last 7 months or so, I’ve let my eating get a little out of hand. I’ve been “trying” to keep it clean/mostly Primal/etc, but it slipped – a lot. This means I’ve put on about 15 lbs or so (I think). This was stressing me out to see the scale gradually creeping up, and I caught myself weighing 4 or 5 times a day – first thing in the morning, before eating, after eating, before going to bed, and so on…  It had to stop, so I gave myself an intervention and had Hubby hide the scale from me for a month. The plan was to clean up my eating, but not worry about that pesky number.
Well… It’s been 3 weeks & I didn’t “clean it up”. If anything, I’ve been worse.
*SIGH*

So. Time for a new intervention. One with some accountability. LOL
I’ll be getting on the scale in the morning – even though it’s not been a full month (hubby has agreed to unhide it for this). Because…
DUHN DUHN DUHNNNNNN

We’re beginning a Whole30!
It scares me a bit, which probably means I need it even more. I’m about half way through the book It Starts With Food by Dallas & Melissa Hartwig – the folks who ‘invented’ the Whole30 – and it just makes so much sense to me. I need to dial my eating habits back in and I think this is (hopefully) the way to do it.

Basically, in a nutshell, the Whole30 is: Eating meat, seafood, veggies, some fruit, & good fats. NOT eating added sugars, alcohol, grains, and dairy.

So, wish me luck – I think I may need it!

R4P3D14 – Got a lot of catching up to do…

Coconut prawns, bacon wrapped scallops, butter cooked clams, and crab stuffed mushrooms... and a nice Riesling.

Coconut prawns, bacon wrapped scallops, butter cooked clams, and crab stuffed mushrooms… and a nice Riesling.

Today: 178.8 / LIW: 177 / Net: +1.8

Let’s see… I haven’t posted since Wednesday… so…

Thursday night hubby took me out to a nice steakhouse dinner. We had wine & appetizers (bad girl). But, oh so yummy! We did send the bread away – but I ate the stuffed mushroom and the coconut prawn.  Of course, by the time my blackened prime rib (with whiskey butter!) & green beans arrived, I was so full I could barely eat a quarter of it! 🙂

Then, I had Friday off, to kick off my girlz weekend – and I had a GREAT time!!

Awesome Charcuterie Plate!

Awesome Charcuterie Plate!

Bestie & I ate lunch on Friday at our friend’s restaurant, The Compass Star – YUMMO!! She is an incredible chef. I’m so proud of her for following her dream and making it a reality. She works her tukkus off, and she’s loving it!  No clue what each of the cured meats were on the charcuterie plate – but they were delicious!  Of course, I forgot to take pictures of the pulled pork slider or the rosemary chicken panini… but trust me, they were drool worthy. If you’re ever in Martinez, CA – or even anywhere NEAR there – you need to eat at The Compass Star.

And, after eating WAAAAYYYY too much incredible food (yes, I ate the bread – don’t judge, she made it with a local brewery’s spent beer stuff!) Bestie & I wandered up and down Main Street, popping into all of the antique stores. I managed to score two hat boxes, a nice wig box, and a pretty glass pearled purse.  Not too shabby.

Then, off to Salinas! Got to our friends’ house & they made us dinner and we played some Cards Against Humanity (crazy-rude-fun-nutty game, that!) until we were all too tired to keep going.

Saturday, we all got up and had some errands to run. Most of us went to Acme Coffee Roasters (yum, Breve Latte!) and Corrolitos Market (SAUSAGE!!). But, Sparky got to take a couple of the pets to a vet appointment.  After that, met back up & drove down the coast to Pfeiffer Beach – which is a bit south of Big Sur. Such a pretty beach!! Well worth the drive. The turn off is a little hard to spot, and you have to go 2 miles down a very tiny road, but once you get there! Beautimous!!  We spent a couple hours wandering around the beach – in the very cold wind. But, it was very enjoyable none the less.

After we got back to Salinas, we all went over to our other friends’ house to meet up with several more friends that we don’t get to see very often. We BBQ’d the sausages we picked up at Corrilitos & had several yummy vegetable side dishes. And, played Cards Against Humanity for a couple hours. 🙂

Sunday was mostly spent driving home – but Bestie & I stopped at IKEA for me to buy a new set of dishes. I also came out with lots of other stuff, as usual… but I didn’t go too overboard. Hey – I managed to not come home with furniture! LOL

Today was back to the grind at work. Whee.

I’m contemplating going full-on Primal once I’m out of P3.  I do a lot of it anyway, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to transition. I don’t want to do full Paleo, since I don’t want to give up all my dairy. I can live without the grains – but I have to have my cheeses!  I’m still reading Mark Sisson’s Primal Blueprint, so we’ll see if I’m willing to go all the way with it once I’m finished. I’m also starting to listen to some podcasts about paleo stuff.

I’m going to not post my daily foods on here anymore – if you really want to see what I’m eating day-to-day, I’m logging over on SparkPeople (snapshotstacy).  I’ll still post recipes and such, though, when I’ve got them.  I’m transitioning into maintenance and I figure that double-logging my food is a bit silly.

R4P2D8 – Some people say that life is a game…

Today: 178.0 / LIW: 177 / Net: +1.0

Today was a crazy day at work… Was dealing with some accounts payable stuff and ended up working right through lunch. Fortunately, I had some pork rinds in my drawer, so I was able to munch something down – and the boss lady let me leave an hour early.

Leaving an hour early meant I was able to go for a run!! Yay!!! I made pretty good time, too. I did 2.6 miles in 34 minutes. That makes a bit over a 13 minute mile. Booyah! 5 minute warm up, then 8 rounds of run 2 min/walk 1 min, then a 5 min cool down.

So… who would have thought that it would be such a time suck finding a decent cricket ball?? I ended up ordering one off of Amazon.com – hopefully it arrives in time! I need it for my Fifth Doctor costume. 😀  I need to get to the fabric store some time in the next few days & find the stripey fabric for my skirt as well. Gotta get crackin’!  (Also need to drag hubby to Kohl’s to get a vest, white shirt, & tie to go with his suit for his Master outfit!)

Breakfast was pork rind fried chicken & mashed cauliflower, also coffee/cream.
Lunch and snack was hot & spicy pork rinds.
Dinner was tilapia and a salad made of tomatoes, sweet peppers, and avocado – with a bit of fontinella cheese.

Master & Doctor Toys!

Master & Doctor Toys!

Today: 178.4 / LIW: 177 / Net: +1.4

Today was a brutal, nasty, queasy headache/migraine day. It finally toned its self down around 4ish… Which was a good thing, since it let me actually do some exercise this evening. I did the Ramp it Up video from my Slim in 6 videos. There was some burn – but it was WAAYYY easier than it used to be. LOL!

Oooh! Hubby & I figured out what we’re going to do for the party!! We’re gonna go as the 5th Doctor (me) and the Master (him)! *giddy* I’m gonna cross-play the Doctor, though. Can’t you just picture those stripey pants as a cute flirty skirt?? *double giddy*  The hardest part is going to be figuring out that dang sonic screwdriver…

Oh! And I get to wear a celery stalk on my lapel!! How cool is that?? LOL

Well, I’m pretty wiped out – so I’m going to wrap this up and toddle off to bed.

Oh, and YAY, WHO!!

Breakfast was NY Strip steak, mushrooms, and peppers, also coffee/cream.
Lunch was a crab/shrimp pan roast.
Snack was some beef bites.
Dinner was a pancake (Happy Pancake Day!) made from egg, cream cheese, & protein powder.

Water count: 120 oz

R4P3D6 – Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat…

Today: 177.6 / LIW: 177 / Net: +0.6

It was a day. I went to work. I went and got my hair trimmed. I’m sleepy. The headache seems to be coming back.
*sigh*

My hairdresser invited Hubby & I to her 50th birthday party in two weeks. It’s a costume (aka fancy dress) party. The theme is “heroes, villains, & fictional characters”. I pointed out that it was quite a HUGE theme… Of course, now I have to figure out what to wear!! Ack!  I love playing dress up… but what to do?? Princess Leia in her white dress? She-ra Princess of Power? Batgirl? Catwoman? A cross-play someone? Eeek! So many options!!  I’m going to have to think on this – and get started on making it soon!

Some winter leaves…
(taken Feburary 2013)

Yay, only a very tiny headache this morning. That’s good – meant I didn’t have to deal with extra pain today. 🙂

We had a great hike today. Went a bit over 3 miles. We kinda walked through a bit of everything… mud, snow, hard pack dirt, sand… LOL It was an adventure! We decided we’re going to do that hike again in the late spring – there should be some amazing blooming stuff.

Well, another weekend down. And I seriously can’t wait until next weekend, though. Beach time, baby!! And time with awesome friends. Woot! I just have to get through the next few days. Taking Friday off, so Bestie and I can swing by our friend’s restaurant. More woot!

Breakfast was a turkey & jalapeno omelette, also coffee/cream.
Lunch was mini pizza with psyllium husk bread crust
Dinner was pork rind fried chicken and whipped cauliflower.
Dessert was a bit of cocoa crack.

Water count: 100 oz
